Short biographies:

Ambassador (R) Tacan İldem is the Chairman of EDAM, a Turkish think-tank on foreign and security policy. He was NATO Assistant Secretary General from 2016 to 2020 and a member of the NATO Experts Group that presented the ‘NATO 2030’ report. A senior Turkish diplomat, İldem has served as Director General for International Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Cabinet and Principal Foreign Policy Advisor of the President, and as Turkish Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to NATO and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

John Andreas Olsen is a Colonel in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, currently assigned to NATO Headquarters, a Professor at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, a Non- Resident Senior Fellow of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, a Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences and a member of the RUSI Journal editorial board. He has published a series of books on NATO and airpower, including The Routledge Handbook of Air Power (Routledge, 2018).
