He previously taught in the department of International Relations at the George Washington University and at Middle East Technical University in Ankara. His educational degrees include an MA in International Relations from the George Washington University, PhD in Political Science from McGill University, and post-doctorate from Harvard University\u2019s Kennedy School of Government. His research interests include the disciplinary sociology of international relations, international security with a focus on non-state actors, and Turkey\u2019s security and foreign policy. He has published a number of books, including&nbsp;<em>Strateji D\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesi: Kuram, Paradoks, Uygulama<\/em>&nbsp;(edited volume with Ali Karaosmano\u011flu, Bilgi \u00dcniversitesi Yay\u0131nlar\u0131, 2021),&nbsp;<em>Widening the World of International Relations: Homegrown Theorizing<\/em>&nbsp;(Routledge, 2018, with G. Biltekin);&nbsp;<em>Violent Non-State Actors: From Anarchists to Jihadists<\/em>&nbsp;(Routledge, 2016),&nbsp;<em>Emerging Transnational (In)Security Governance: A Statist Transnationalist Approach<\/em>&nbsp;(Routledge, 2015),&nbsp;<em>Paradigms in Transition: Globalization, Security and the Nation State<\/em>&nbsp;edited with James N. Rosenau (SUNY Press, 2005),&nbsp;<em>Y\u00f6ntem, Kuram, Komplo T\u00fcrk Uluslararas\u0131 \u0130li\u015fkiler Disiplininde Vizyon Aray\u0131\u015flar\u0131<\/em>&nbsp;(with E. Kurubas &amp; H.
