IR Conference Welcomed Graduates from Turkey as well as abroad

Believing in the importance of intellectual exchange among graduate students, Department of International Relations organized Graduate Conference 2014 under the general theme of ÔÇśInternational Relations in the Age of Uncertainty: Theory and PracticeÔÇÖ on 30 May 2014. On this day-long event, panelists reflecting diverse sub-fields of the discipline presented their projects and welcomed feedback. The program was divided into five panels: ÔÇśRethinking SecurityÔÇÖ, ÔÇśRethinking International RelationsÔÇÖ, ÔÇśThe Arab Uprisings and Its AftermathÔÇÖ, ÔÇśLeadership and Foreign Policy AnalysisÔÇÖ and ÔÇśInternational Political Economy of Regions and RegionalismÔÇÖ. 21 participants from Ankara University (Ankara), Dokuz Eyl├╝l University (─░zmir), European University Institute, Florence (Italy), Gazi University (Ankara), Hacettepe University (Ankara), Middle East Technical University (Ankara), Yalova University (Yalova), Yeditepe University (─░stanbul), University of Sussex (UK) and Zirve University (Gaziantep) as well as Bilkent IRÔÇÖs graduate students received feedback from IR faculty acting as discussants.
The conference concluded with Dr. Faruk Yalva├žÔÇÖs (Middle-East Technical University) keynote speech on ÔÇśIbn Khaldun\'s (1332-1406) Thought and Historical Sociology of IRÔÇÖ.
The graduate conference underscores the significance of graduate studies and of initiatives jointly taken by the graduate students and faculty members in Department of International Relations.
